The everyday use of hand made tableware is at the heart of this workshop. If we care about where the food we eat has come from, then we should also care about the provenance of the plates and bowls it is served on. This is a great workshop to learn the essential throwing and turning skills necessary to create bowls, cups and plates for yourself, family and friends.

​

Emphasis will be placed on best practise wheel throwing techniques and other methods to create hand made ceramic pieces. The finishing of pots, including turning and surface marking options will also be covered. This workshop is suitable both for those with only a few months of wheel throwing experience or potters with many years of practice. Regardless of where you're at in your pottery throwing career, you will brush up and improve your skills during this two day hands-on workshop.

Places are limited to only six students, with access to your own wheel for individual practise and tutoring, so be quick to secure your spot. By the end of the weekend you will have a number of pieces to take home with you, ready to be fired.

 

Cost - $​295 per person. Materials included. Tea and coffee is provided. BYO lunch each day.

I enjoyed the location, the other participants and your warm welcoming approach. It was a pleasure to spend time with someone whose work I have admired for some time. The setting is great and Rowley is an effective instructor, happy to share his thoughts and expertise with novices and less experienced potters. It was inspiring mainly due to Rowley's encouragement and great demonstrations. It was also good to have a clear demonstration of pulling a handle, turning a plate, and tips for throwing and shaping bowls.

I have done a few wheel throwing workshops... and Rowley’s workshop is the FIRST one I have felt catered to my needs as an advanced/intermediate beginner. The goals were achievable while still being challenging. The course content pushed me out of my little world. I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it was very worth my while. Rowley is approachable, accepting of the full range of questions presented to him, and able to explain things in a way that is understandable. His willingness to speak of the challenges he has as a thrower and the mistakes that he has made makes him very relatable. I also enjoyed having access to our own wheel... And the fact that there was a cap on the number of participants was vital to the success of the workshop.

FOR ALL WORKSHOP BOOKINGS, PLEASE NOTE -

Refunds: We accept changes or cancellations up to 3 weeks before the commencement of your workshop. If you find you are unable to attend the workshop within three weeks of the workshop date, please endeavour to find someone else to take your position, as we do not provide refunds for unfilled positions. If we have a wait list for your workshop and are therefore able to fill your cancelled spot in this timeframe, we will refund your workshop payment to you, less an administrative fee of $50.

Cancellations: We rarely cancel classes or workshops, but occasionally things come up beyond our control. If a workshop is cancelled, we will be in touch by phone or email, and discuss your options which include refund, credit or transfer to another date.
