WHEEL THROWING CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

WHEEL THROWING - WEEKLY CLASSES

Term of 6 weeks : Thursday morning classes  - 9.30 am to 12 pm - Thursday February 20 to Thursday March 26, inclusive.

If you wish to really develop your wheel throwing skills, Rowley will be holding a term of wheel throwing classes in February and March, 2020. Running for six weeks, these classes offer customised tuition for your individual skill level. Whether you are new to ceramics, or want to develop existing skills and style, these sessions will be tailored to your needs. Rowley will provide personal tuition in small groups of up to six students each term, focusing on throwing and assembling techniques with additional information shared about firing and glazing, as required by each student. This is a great opportunity to learn from one of Australia’s most experienced ceramic artists and educators, so be quick to book your spot.

You should bring your own white stoneware clay for these classes. Please bring your own ceramic hand tools if you have them, or you can make use of those at Quixotica. Tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring your own snacks and water bottles.

Cost - $375 per term (6 classes) per person for six weeks of morning classes, one day per week.

TESTIMONIALS -

Feedback from Rowley's recent wheel throwing workshops and classes at Quixotica -

I enjoyed your teaching approach of allowing each person to explore what they wanted to. It's a lot like riding a bike and with a little correction the motor skills kick in. You most certainly have an eye for correction and a major skill set to inform your teaching! Thanks for your wisdom sharing and love the space at Quixotica!

Robyn, Sunshine Coast, Qld - Wheel Throwing Classes - September 2019

The course was just sheer joy for me. Seeing everyone's different ways of doing things and just generally being in the studio bring me so much happiness. Thank you again for all of your generous advice and help throughout the course.

Kate, Sunshine Coast, Qld - Wheel Throwing Classes - September 2019

The classes were thoroughly enjoyable, not to mention constructive (thanks for being so patient with the rookie!) and I'll definitely recommend your workshops and Quixotica to who ever I can.

Dee, Sunshine Coast, Qld - Wheel Throwing Classes - August 2019

I enjoyed watching Rowley throw large objects on the wheel as he generously shared his techniques which have been acquired over many years of doing wheel work. I did find the workshop inspiring. I'm a timid thrower and I gained more confidence to take more risks while throwing and have more faith in my ability to throw large objects. It was very special having lunch on the gallery verandah too.

I particularly enjoyed that there were only 6 in our group....  I am only just a beginner potter. It certainly beats any other classes I have done with an excellent tutor, and with a small group.

Mary, Sunshine Coast, Qld  - From Little Things, Big Things Grow - Feb 2019

I have done a few wheel throwing workshops... and Rowley’s workshop is the FIRST one I have felt catered to my needs as an advanced/intermediate beginner. The goals were achievable while still being challenging. The course content pushed me out of my little world. I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it was very worth my while. Rowley is approachable, accepting of the full range of questions presented to him, and able to explain things in a way that is understandable. His willingness to speak of the challenges he has as a thrower and the mistakes that he has made makes him very relatable. I also enjoyed having access to our own wheel... And the fact that there was a cap on the number of participants was vital to the success of the workshop.

I enjoyed the relaxed and beautiful environment, access to the gallery, and the knowledgeable and understanding teaching style. I was inspired by the demonstrations and being able to see how various forms are thrown.
