Wild Clay pasta bowls
Rowley’s “wild clay” bowls are made from clay gathered locally on the Sunshine Coast and blended with other clay to ensure durability. They are wood fired in an anagama kiln for three to five days. On close inspection, you can see the path of the flame and where ash has landed on the work of each unique piece.
Irregularities from the local clay are highlighted by a food safe glaze, which is applied by careful dipping and pouring. The hand made glaze is based on a traditional “Hagi” rice straw ash formula.
