Miwa white glazed bottle
One of a pair, this stoneware bottle has been glazed with a miwa white glaze, carefully applied by pouring the glaze across the form. "Miwa" refers to the style of glaze, developed by the Miwa family, one of the most highly regarded pottery families over many centuries in Japan.
Complementing this white bottle, is its black pair, also shown in the photos here. They are beautiful separately and are even more so together. Both could be used as a bud vase, or simply as aesthetically pleasing pieces to have in your living space.
The bottle was wheel thrown and hand glazed by Rowley Drysdale. It was wood fired over several days in an anagama kiln at Quixotica, which created the subtle tones and marks on the surface of the bottle and glaze.
Dimensions - 9 cm diameter x 14.5 cm high
