Cobalt crystal glazed trio
Spherical forms have been a hallmark of Rowley’s practice for over 30 years. Lately, Rowley has developed a new series of spherical forms, in the shape of these needle neck vases, which are carefully created on the potters wheel by him at Quixotica. A small bowl sits alongside the two vases.
After the pieces have been wheel thrown, turned and bisque fired, a detailed glaze making and application process follows. This crystal glaze is one of many created by Rowley. It is evidence of his years of trial and error in glaze making, to achieve the highly reflective and visually appealing crystal formations in this glaze. These works were fired in kilns at Rowleys' creative space, Quixotica.
Whilst each piece looks striking individually, they are best shown sitting together, in delicate symmetry with each other. These pieces have been selected by Rowley to complement each other in proportion and form.
