Celadon dinner plates
Porcelain dinner plates, individually wheel thrown and hand glazed by Rowley Drysdale, featuring a celadon glaze. Each has the distinctive centre swirl, a hallmark of Rowley's work.
Celadon glaze is partly transparent and usually has a jade green colouring. The glaze originated in China many centuries ago. It use later spread throughout Asia, particularly in Japan and Korea. For many centuries, celadon wares were highly regarded by the Chinese Imperial court. The similarity of the colour to jade, traditionally highly valued in China, was a large part of its attraction.
Clean and simple, these hand made plates are the perfect addition to any dinner table.
Dimensions - 26 cm diameter
